Hello,

My name is Kanwar Jassal and this is my wiki website I put together for my Applications of Information Technology assignment. I have chosen to do my wiki website theme about hockey, because of the love I have for the sport. I am a first year student studying the Bachelor of Commerce program, with specialization in accounting at the University of Ottawa. This wiki is my expression for the sport hockey. It is filled will stats, news, events and videos that will surely please any hockey fan.

What is Hockey?


Hockey is a fast paced, contact intense sport played on an ice rink between two teams of six skaters, who attempt to drive a small rubber puck into the opposing goal with hockey sticks. It developed in Canada in the 19th century and continues to be a dominate sport in Canada.

    Rules-


    Object of the Game
    • The object of the game is to score more goals than the opposition.

    Substitutions
    • Substitutions are unlimited.
    • A substitution does not require an official's permission.
    • A player can join the game during the flow of play.

    The Face-off
    • The game begins when the referee drops the puck between two opposing forwards.
    • The faceoff is used to resume play following any stoppage in the game.
    • There are nine designated face off spots painted on the ice.

    The Game Clock
    • The game is played in three 20-minute periods.
    • The clock is stopped during all stoppages in play.

    Body Checking
    • A player can use a shoulder, hip or torso to hit an opponent, but only when the opponent has possession of the puck.

    Minor Penalties
    • Tripping
    • Holding
    • Hooking
    • Interference
    • Slashing
    • High-sticking
    • Cross-checking

    Major Penalties
    • A player charged with a major penalty is sent off the ice for five minutes.
    • ex. Fighting
